Climate Conversations is a new biennial project that invites Northern Rivers artists to collaborate with community and explore ways we can adapt, reorganise, and evolve in the face of climate change through the art
The theme for the second Climate Conversations is Rising which explores the growing consciousness and urgency to meet climate challenges. Amidst soaring temperatures, swelling oceans, and escalating natural disasters, Earth's fragile equilibrium teeters/ hangs in the balance. Rising reflects the need to embrace our role as environmental stewards, and unite in collective action.
Northern Rivers Artists and collaborators are invited to respond to the theme of Rising and propose a collaborative community focused project and exhibition.
The successful artist or artists will receive a fee of $5,000 to develop new work (plus $2,000 additional funding for public programs), and a one-month exhibition at Lone Goat Gallery, Byron Bay, in 2025.
Artists from outside the region may apply if they partner with a Northern Rivers based artist. Artists are encouraged to ensure the project idea is focused on community engagement and generating conversations with community through art.
