Artist Talk & Workshop with Samantha Moss: Restoration as a force for positive change.
Saturday 12 August at 1pm at Lone Goat Gallery
The community are invited to join local artist Samantha Moss as she talks about her collaborative works in our current exhibition Mending & Tending: Art that works for Nature. She will chat with local artist Annique Goldenberg and| discuss the importance of our river systems, as a place that connects the coastal fringe to inland areas, and the fragility of our natural ecosystems, in particular the mangroves.
With a focus on restoration and following recent climate disasters such as erosion, fires and floods – how can we extend our relationship to this place in a positive way?
After the talk Samantha will lead a workshop exploring clay and its natural properties. Using simple techniques such as rolling, pressing and cutting with natural materials (seeds, leaves and pods), each participant will create a unique small clay tree. These creations will be added to the ‘Clay Forest’ installation.
All materials are supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own native seed or leaf to press.
These are free events, all welcome. No bookings required.
